2013 • Buzzbeak – Sumit Sarkar
I was introduced to the artist Sumit Sarkar aka Kriksix by Ian Smith and invited him to work with us on a project for the Merchant City Festival in Glasgow in 2012.
In 2013, Sumit created Buzzbeak. Commissioned by UZ Arts and Shetland Arts, he transformed a Land Rover into an incredible sound munching, animated sculpture in collaboration with fabricator/designer Duncan Turner, sound artists Guy Veale, Tirval Scott and Fern Oxley and actors Floortje Robertson and Louise Quinn.
I have continued to work with Sumit. He was artist in residence to Sura Medura in Sri Lanka and the Kelburn Garden Party in 2019.
