Moving Out – Going International

Joining moderator Bob Palmer, we are delighted to welcome Janet Archer, CEO of Creative Scotland, and Stephen Stenning, Director of Culture and Development for the British Council, who will both be presenting Keynote Speeches at our Summerhall Symposium on Monday 21st August 2017.

Janet Archer will discuss the issues and opportunities facing Scottish artists who wish to work abroad post Brexit.

Stephen Stenning will discuss international opportunities available to artists through British Council programmes.

Moving Out: ‘Going International’ is an INSITU Focus event and is following on from the successes of Moving Out Symposium 2015, and Moving Out: ‘Making It’ Symposium in 2016.

The discussion with the audience and a group of specialists will focus on accessing and delivering international collaborations, the relevance of publically-engaged practice to international residencies, and the impact of international residencies on artists’ work and sense of cultural identity. It will offer a crucial guide for artists and producers seeking to work outside both their home country and their comfort zone.
